passing session vars between servers

I have some session vars I want to have "waiting" for the user when he gets to another server. I can send things via FTP (Usin PHP's native functions) to send a file to the other waiting server, and of course when I redirect I can also pass the session id.

Part I don't know how to do is to send serialized variables as a file and put in the /tmp directory so the new server recognizes them as session vars - anyone else know how to do this?

You are spot on with the /tmp dir idea. Though I would extend the concept to store the sessions in a database. That way you could uniquely identify the session data with a php session id, or some other column like a username, that both the orginial site and the new site could attempt to find. All you would have to do is manage to send either the session ID in a link to the new site or force the user to relogin on the second site, and they pull the session out of the common database associated witht he user.

You can write your own session handling functions and ask php to use them instead of the standard ones. RTFM for more info no that.

I think everyone on the forum deserves to ask one unresearched question every 3 months :-)

In this case, is there something in PHP which will text-declare i.e. return all variables in an array - so that I can put that into either a text file or database field? Then, if done correctly, I just need to do an eval() on the other end and voila ('scuse me that's a french word, sorry about that) the vars are now on that server. Seems I remember a function like this.
