Hello,

I am looking for an audio chat or messenger that is compatible with PHP/MySQL. It cannot be flash or uses flash communication server.

Any suggestions anyone?

What do you mean by compatible with php/mysql? php has no audio capabilities.

What is an alternative way for me to have audio chat within my web site without using FLASH?

I don't think you can do that without flash. Maybe java would work, but google might help.

It's true that Java would work fine... except for that part about having less client compatibility than Flash.

Don't think of this in terms of PHP which is a server side language - this isn't a server side question. It's a client side question - and the correct answer is Flash.

Actually, no joke, I'd use a telephone as it has higher bandwidth and reliability. Our site has a button "Click here to talk with a rep"... and then we call them back in less than 60 seconds.

Yeah... I think it's safe to say that something like this can't be done in PHP. I really can't think of any way PHP would be directly involved with such a chatroom.

I mean, if you wanted to accompany the audio chat with a text-only chat lobby, I could see that being done in PHP/AJAX/etc., but other than that... yeah, I don't think so. As such, I think this thread is destined for the ClientSide Technologies forum.
