[RESOLVED] Checkbox array not listing correctly

So- I have three checkbox arrays- 'activity' 'quality system' and 'experts' . Im trying to call the values of these arrays from three separate database tables. My problem is that only 1 checkbox is being echoed and the name of each activity etc is not displayed. I cannot think way- can anyone help?

here is my code

That's because you only retrieve one value from each query. Look at the manual to see how to use [man]mysql_fetch_assoc[/man] - normally this used in conjunction with a [man]while/man loop.

thankyou for signposting me to the mysql_fetch_assoc function description. I had a look and I thought I should be using mysql_fetch_array instead as well as selecting all the data instead of just the activity field etc. I am still not getting a list of respective quality systems/activities/expertises though. For instance under quality systems I have four checkboxes labelled '1','1','A' and 'A' when in actual fact their are over 30 quality systems, called PQASSO, ISO etc etc. The same applie to the activities. Their arew about 20 in all in the activity table but only 4 show up and the names of each activity don't show. Here is how I adapted my code:

You have to use a loop to loop through the MySQL result set. [man]mysql_fetch_assoc/man only retrieves one row at a time.

Did you bother reading through the coding example on the manual page? Did you notice how they used this function?

I did read the post and I did read the manual. I did not spot where I had to go to resolve the issue hence my response. By the way...whilst I am thankful for your help I do not like your tone. Frankly im sick and tired of coming across tones like this on the forums - where people think they can get away with talking like this when in real life they would not dare to as they know what the consequences would be. Would you talk like that to someone in your own home or at work? I hope not. If you don't want to be nice then don't bother you know where the door is. I went to a bar last night and saw a fight in the street afterwards (this happens quite alot in the UK meaning it is quite normal) anyone trying to stop it will be considered at fault then. Things are not always black and white. Anyway.... enough of this foolishness.

I'm sorry if I came across as offensive. I did not mean to ridicule or publicly mock you, or however it came across to you. I was simply trying to be as blunt as possible (thanks for the quote, Weedpacket). In my first post, I specifically mentioned using a while() loop (or some other loop, though a while() loop would be most applicable in this situation, IMO) was necessary to loop through the result set and retrieve all rows from MySQL. In your response, however, you had no loops; you simply changed which MySQL function you were using (which retrieves the results twice - a numerical and associative index is created for each row). So, perhaps I was a little too frustrated when I replied - I was only trying to help.

Despite the fact this is resolved, I hope that page isn't finished. I would highly reccomend some <br> tags after each checkbox, it's remarkably difficult to read.

If you were to use mysql_num_rows() you could determine the number of checkboxes each would have, and if you did not desire a <br> on the last element, you could keep a counter -- $i , start it at 1 and then have an

 if($row!=$i) { echo '<br>'; }

So: next time you're told you need to have a loop to go through your results, and you can't figure it out you'll say so and explain what you tried instead of apparently ignoring the (politely offered, note) advice, right? Save yourself from getting all upset.

Feel free to question cultural mores if you want (yes, you can). But that's a subject for another forum. If you're going to fight, take it outside.
