my appologies, in reflecting on what i initially posted i guess i wasnt very clear.
yes, i needed this information to be emailed, and was having trouble with the vars for both a radio button and a list menu. although i had figured out that i was trying to make this alot larger of a process than i really needed to. so i am sorry to raise the "help needed" flag when i really just needed to play with it more and show you guys what i had found to make sure i was doing it right.
here is what i came up with:
$homeownership = ($_POST['homeownership']);
$reasonforpurchase = ($_POST['reasonforpurchase']);
and in my html:
<p class="maintext10pt">Home Ownership -<br>
<input type="radio" name="homeownership" value="own" />Own
<input type="radio" name="homeownership" value="rent" />Rent<br />
</p>
<p><span class="maintext10pt">Reason For Purchasing? -</span><br>
<label>
<select name="reasonforpurchase" class="textfeild12pt" id="reasonforpurchase">
<option> </option>
<option value="primary residence">primary residence</option>
<option value="second or vacation home">second or vacation home</option>
<option value="corporate purchase">corporate purchase</option>
<option value="investment">investment</option>
</select>
</label>
</p>
i was concerned that if i give 2 different options the same var name but different values, the php wouldnt find out what value was selected by the user. although, as i later found out in some of my reading, that $POST will basically go through the html doc, look for vars and $POST them to do what ever you want to do with them. it all makes sense to me now but at the time i was very confused.
