Trouble with hotmailusers => mailing list script

I have some troubles with the hotmailusers of my mailing list. They don't seem to receive the activation e-mail. I was wondering how that's possible. The e-mail doesn't even show up at their unwanted e-mail or whatever it's called.

I've tested it like this:
I add an hotmail e-mail to the list and wait for the activation e-mail. Then I send an e-mail with a NOT hotmail e-mail to the hotmail e-mail.
I log in to the hotmail e-mail and see NO activation e-mail but only the other e-mail..

Any ideas? :bemused:

You might check to see if your IP address is on a blacklist. It's possible that Hotmail is checking a blacklist and dropping your email.

Check the link for SBL Information and also for XBL information.

I checked and my IP is not on the list... what now?

Search the board for keywords like "hotmail", "hotmail headers", etc.; you'll find that Hotmail is very picky about headers e-mails must have.

I searched the forums and found this:

$headers = "From: $email_from\r\n"; 
$headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n"; //content type
$headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";

I'm not quite sure where to put it but i'll try... 🙂

Hmm does somebody knows EXACTLY what to add?

Because i searched the forums and tried like 10 things and nothing worked...

If all else fails, you might just have to warn users that your site uses an automated mailer that is unfortunately flagged as spam. Tell users the e-mail address that your script is sending mail from and ask them to "whitelist" this address.

Some sites even include step-by-step instructions on how to do this on the popular free mail sources.
