accessing ffmpeg with php

I've scoured the internet for any tuturials or usage examples of how to use ffmpeg with php, to no avail. I know it is a command-line application, and I have found plenty on how to use it through that, but what I'm looking for is a way to process uploaded files using ffmpeg and php.

Any help is much appreciated.
