[RESOLVED] table row alternating colors

Hi,

I'd like to be able to alternate color in a table. I know it's been done a lot but I really never had to do anything like that. I guess the easy way would be to assign a color to a row if it's a odd or even... Any directions would be highly appreciated.

That's great, but doe this assume that I'll have under 10 rows? What is I have 34? Shall I set a larger number, just in case?

this was just an example. you can have as many rows as you want.

Well, I actually already have a loop that outputs the rows:

foreach ($issues as $issue)
{
echo "<tr>
	    <td>
		 <a href='#'>line</a>
		</td>
	  </tr>";
}

how could I incorporate the two?

In fact it's been done so often that there are a lot of threads on the subject that can be found by searching, and it's even mentioned in the FAQ.

So you have a variable that you set to 0 before you start the loop. Each time through the loop, you look at it and if it's 0 you use one colour and change the variable to 1; and if it's 1 you use the other colour and change the variable to 0.

Ah-ha. I think I can do that -- setting the var and changing it. Won't it slow down my code since i hhave to perform the logic step each line of the loop? I am a bit concern because I'm actually writing this code for WML and as we all know it is already pathetically slow...

Let's put it this way: if you do find it's slowing down your program, try using a computer to run it. Computers are good at doing that sort of thing quickly.
