Hello. Dreamweaver would be to a tank if notepad was a mouse 😃 . Dreamweaver has got so many functions you'll never use them all. It has syntax highlighting, it is a wysiwyg editor, it has inbuilt project manager, ftp support, testing server support, it has a helpful tool to create css, and many more features I can't think of. It gets a bit dodgey around the php support however though. I have stopped using Dreamweaver now as I am more a coder then a designer now and I am also on linux. There are other things around that do the same type of things dreamweaver does, but dreamweaver is the best I have seen. It is also the most expensive. There are also other programs out there such as PHP Designer (very good free wysiwyg replacement for dreamweaver), or PSPad (a very advanced text editor, well worth a look on windows (use kate for linux)) .
Hope this helps.
