Formatting a GET form

Is there a way so the query information is passed to the address bar in an encrypted manner? Basically, I would like to use a GET post but not have the address bar read:

page.php?criteria1=xxx

I'm looking for something like:

page.php?xyz123unintelligiblelineofnumbersandletters

I would like to use GET so that the results page can be bookmarked.

as with any string you could hash it using any of PHP hashing functions:
[man]crypt[/man]
[man]md5[/man]
[man]sha1[/man]

whichever one you use you should then [man]urlencode[/man] the hash
