[RESOLVED] Browser dispalys .php files as image

I am an extreme newbie. I am trying to learn php codes, using apache 2.0. I've already changed the apache's config files to include my php5 modules, and I'm trying to test the settings. I created a file using notepad, with the following code; <?php phpinfo(); ?> and saved it as phpinfo.php, but when I try to load this file in my localhost browser, my microsoft picture it program starts. Why is this?

Did you open the file with File > Open File rather than typing http://yourservername/phpinfo.php???

You need to access php files using the http:// protocol rather than file://

I am in the process of looking at the link you've provided. Hopefully, I'll be able to find some help here.

I've also used the http:// protocol, and still no difference. I've checked and re-checked my config. file for apache, and everything seems correct according to the installation directions provided.

The following is what's been added to my apache config file.

LoadModule php5_module "c:/php/php5apache2.dll", in the section for LoadModules.

AddTye application/x-httpd-php .php, in the section for AddType.

Still not sure what else could be wrong. Bringing up the browser and typing my localhost/phpinfo.php brings up the application to load Microsoft Picture It.

Please help!

Have you checked the settings in windows.

Open up any folder, go to Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types

Scroll down to PHP and single-click on it.

What program does it say it opens with?

Thanks for that info. That was the problem. For whatever reason, php was set to open with Microsoft Picture It. I've changed this and now, I'm able to view my phpinfo(); file.
