[RESOLVED] Can't use letters in DB

I don't even know how to really explain this problem.

I am using a phpbb forum and I want to add some info to the phpbb_users table. I added a row called stats_points.

Here is my codeing, I know not very pretty.

The file is laid out like this:

There are over 600 lines
Now when I run this script I get the same data in all the fields, a 90
As far as I can tell it's getting the data from the following line, towards the bottom of the list but not at the bottom.

426182 589 0 90 17 13285

Now I can't figure this out, any clue would be greatly apreciated.

thought that I would add that the echo apears correctly on the page when I run the script.

You need to put quotes around string values in sql, so your query should read

mysql_query("UPDATE phpbb_users SET stats_points = ".$pieces[3]." WHERE username = '" .$pieces[2]."'");
