[RESOLVED] now()

I was writing a query and wanted to make a date satmp of a record entered into my db. So I've put

..., now(), ...

. The table field wher the record should go is date format like this 0000-00-00. However, when I checked my table cell was empty, only conatining default record: 0000-00-00.

Do I need to do some sort of conversion?

Do you mean you're doing something like this:

UPDATE my_table SET date = NOW() WHERE name = 'zzz';
  or
INSERT INTO my_table (name, date) VALUES ('zzz', NOW());

If so, it should work.

If it's a date field (not datetime), you probably should use the CURDATE() function instead of NOW(), as NOW() returns a datetime value while CURDATE() returns just the date.

That's right, but NOW() should work anyway.

Well, as it turned out I put single quotes around 'now()'... dah...

CURDATE as well as NOW work fine!
