Registration Activation

Hi, This is my second website and i did not realy maintain my last one but i had the same problem. Here is my problem, When someone tries to register on my website it says it will send them an activation email, but yet they dont recieve an email at all. so i tried to sign up with a test a name as it did not send any emails to me. How do I fix it so that it sends and email for activation. Thank you for any help.

If you could please leave detail instructions for me as i am new to php thanks much.

How are you currently trying to send the email?

thats the thing i have no idea how to even get that going, Under the Prefrence option I have the administrater email as [e-mail].

i only uploaded php7.9 i dont know if there is any scripts at all

php is the programming language whatever application your using is written in. Its not an application itself. php is only up to version 5 ATM. What applcation are you using?

Meaning that PHP is an interpreted language. You have to have a set of scripts working in tandem to create a dynamic application. You used a few key words that leads us to believe you're using a pre-built application on your webserver.

Typically, in PHP you'd want to use the [man]mail/man function to send email. If you really want to get up and running with PHP, I'd suggest you either borrow or purchase a book on PHP.

is there something i download to do the activation or a file i need to edit and if so what file and what do i put in it

It really sounds like you are lost in a fog of PHP code and have no idea which way is out. My suggestion for you is to put this project on hold for now and pick up a PHP book. Devote a couple days (or weeks) to reading and becoming familiar with the practices and such of PHP.

You probably won't be able to handle this project right now with the level of education in PHP you're currently showing.

It's not a matter of me being unhelpful. It's a matter of you coming to a forum and asking a question, one that is ambiguous at best. Then when we try to get more information about what it is you're working on/with, you give us no information which shows your infancy inside of working with PHP.

You can't have PHP 7.x since right now the most recent build is only 5.x. You say you have an application and change things in the Preferences, but make no mention of exactly what application/script you're using.

How can we help when the information you're giving us is not there? What you need is either a book to teach you the basics, OR a personal tutor on which no-one here can do that for you. It's impossible. I've answered your question in an above post. You send mail using [man]mail/man in a PHP file. Since you say you're supposed to get an email and such, I'm guessing you're using a CMS and haven't set it up properly; however, if you don't tell us what you're using, or where your website is, we can't help you any further.
