Hi there,
I have a version of WAMP5 Version 1.4.3 on my Windows XP PC.
I would like to uninstall this and upgrade to the latest version - but I am unable to uninstall the program. I do not have any record of Wamp in my control panel - under Add/Remove Programs - nor do I have an 'uninstall wampserver' link in the 'Start' menu, or any unins000.exe file.

I can see wamp files under C:\wamp - including the wampserver.exe - but no reference to an uninstall file. I am a complete novice with Wamp - this version of Wamp was installed by a third party and I do not know how it was installed originally - can anyone point me in the right direction here please.

According to the WAMPServer pages it looks like all you need to do is delete the existing directory and reinstall. Looking at your thread in the WAMP forums, I notice a batch file called "unsinstall_services.bat". Maybe running that and deleting the WAMP directory does the trick.

But don't quote me on any of this; I've never used WAMPserver. It's just what I'd think of doing.

i use the most up to date files, and they all use the same services etc (filenames).. so if you delete and install in the same directory, you will have no probelms 🙂

Hi Weedpacket and plapeyre, thanks for the reply - I may be out of sync with you guys as I am based in Oz - so apologies for the delay getting back. Yes - I have posted on the Wamp forums - but seem to be getting no adequate response. The reason I want to uninstall is because the Wamp website explicitly says that I need to uninstall the prior version before I can upgrade to the newer version - and no doubt the newer version is more secure?

Anyway - I guess I may try a directory delete and keep my fingers crossed. Unfortunately I am not a coder in any sense - so a lot of this is very new and alien to me. But I guess if you never try - you never get anywhere.

Simply remove the WAMP directory but just make sure that WAMP or Apache and MySQL are shut down to delete the files then just do a normal install with the new version with the default settings and everything will be the same as it was only upgraded to the newer version you are instaling.

Thanks Houdini - I think I will give this a go.
