[RESOLVED] OOP PHP5 question

I am not sure if this is the best place to post this or in the PHP5 section.
I am a newbie. I've worked with php for some time now and feel much more at home with it eventhough I havn't had any formal trainig. I did take a java class once and cant say much stuck.
here are the questions
First, with java they had this wounderfull api that showed you how thinsg worked. Ive used the PHP documentation page and am extreamly happy that it exists but I would like something that tells me what the "Object" has / is made up of.
Second
If I have an object instanciated in Java it hangs around for the duration of my program (unless I remove it). How do I, in php, have a script that uses the same instance of an object acrss multiple scripts/pages.

As far as object persistence, one way is to uses sessions and serialize()/unserialize() to store/retrieve objects to/from the $_SESSION array.

Thank you NogDog. I've been passing instances of objects around with the $_session variable. I was just wondering if there was a better way. Its good to know that someone else might look at at my code and not feel like its alien in implementation.

As of right now, there isn't a java-style object persistance layer in PHP, though there is a PECL extension being developed to do just that. I have also heard rumors that php6 will have support for such a thing.

The only alternative is to serialize them and store them in shared memory yourself, but right now that is messy in php. You could also store them in a text field in a database, but that is slow.
