Editing completed forms.

I'm looking for a ready made solution to my problem if possible.

I run an online game about making movies which I've been moderating by hand, but I'm now looking for a more automated way of doing things.

I'll give you a brief example of what I need.

Firstly, the player submits a movie idea with a title and a short synopsis. They also include a couple of characters with 3 actors they would like to play each character.

At this stage the movie is submitted to me and I reply to the player, giving the cost for each actor to take take the role.

The player then decides which actor he would like and once again submits it to me.

As you can see, it's pretty straight forward, but it would be easier and less time consuming for me if it was all done online.

The method I'm using at the moment is a straight forward email, but I would like to know if anyone knows of a script that would allow the player to submit the original idea using an online form. I would then need access to the form, using perhaps an admin section where I could manipulate the form before resubmitting it.
The player would then need access to the form once more where they could then manipulate it further before resubmitting it again.

A bit long winded, and I'm sorry about that, but does anyone know of such a solution?

I would think that it would have to be database linked, but I don't have a clue where to start.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, a mysql database could do this very simply. The form information would be stored on the DB and be available via php to be viewed or modified any time the page was loaded. You will need to have mysql installed and have a user account to it.

I have the database in place, what I'm really looking for is a ready made front end for the database, where both myself and the players can edit the fields, with different permissions of course.

Do you know of any such frontend product that can be accessed through a browser?

No, not really. This is such a basic application it would make more sense to just write the code (for me) You could look for some basic php forms code and maybe use that. But you will probably have to set up your table(s) on mysql manually (phpMyAdmin) is great for that!
