dates problem

Hi,

I am building a script for hotel reservation but i am having trouble with the Dates,

I have a table with field "season_start" value 01-oct-2006 and "end_season" value 15-oct-2006 with "price" 60$ then another line with "season_start" value 16-oct-2006 "and "end_season" value 29-oct-2006 with price 90$.

What i want to do is on a form i put the start date and end date and he will search the database and return the value for the data typed.

Ex: start date 8-oct-2006 end date 22-oct-2006 in this case he will return the sum of the 2 seasons since the 1st season stops on 15-oct and 2nd season starts on the 16-oct-2006 he will print 150$.

If the user puts start date from 2-oct-2006 and end date 6-oct-2006 will print 60$

Can anyone help me how to build this code?

Keep in mind that MySQL (I am assuming that you are using it as your database) uses the format of YYYY-MM-DD and your form is using DD-MM-YYYY (well kind of...oct is month 10) so it would be 16-10-2006 and 29-10-2006. you can use MySQL's internal date and time handling functions provided you give such data in a fashion that MySQL understands and will work properly with see MySQL MySQL Date Calculations

and you should be able to easily do what you want. This advise is for those that use MySQL DBMS so you might wish to look at the reference material online for others such as Postgres.
