First newbie post has landed! (Help with subdomain includes/forwarding)

Hey there!

As you might of guessed with this being posted in the newbie section, I'm pretty new and useless with PHP so please be gental. 😉

I'm looking in to getting a subdomain to point towards the main domain, but rather than display the index page, forward to a different page.

So... for example: subdomain.mysite.com effectivly includes the content from mysite.com and then points to the right page from there: mysite.com?page=page2

After many hours of google searching I can't find anything at all like this...

shrug 😕

(Oh and I'd like to still be able to navigate from the subdomain address too as if it were the main domain. 🙂)

Any help would be much appreciated!

sounds like URL masking to me.

What you could do (and this is a cheater way to do it) is to put an iFrame in and as the contents of the iFrame put the page you want them redirected to. For the height and width you'd make it 100% so it looks like they're actually at sub.domain.com when really they're perusing main.domain.com

With PHP? Making use of the [man]header/man function to reroute people yes, but the URL in the addressbar would change.

As for the site stuff, yes. You could use [man]file_get_contents/man or [man]fopen/man with [man]fread/man or even using [man]cURL[/man] get the output from another site / page to your site and your domain name would be shown; although, once they clicked on a link, they would be moved to the external site's server & domain. But that's not to say you couldn't whip something up to edit all links on their page to be that of your own page to get the specified URL 😉
