how to make a category navigation

okay, i read some other ones but they werent really what i wanted. what i would like to make is a category system, where you click on the main category and it shows u the subcategories. like a forum. you click on a main forum and it brings u to a whole new page of subforums and boards. is there anyway i could do that? thanks

given that other people do it, it is likely that you could too. a two-level system is easy. you have two database tables

CATEGORIES
id
name

SUBCATEGORIES
id
category_id
name

then you connect your topics/articles/data/whatever to your subcatgories:

DATA
id
subcategory_id
name
content

then you create the php pages to display categories or subcategories or data and put the right queries in it.
