[RESOLVED] time();

Ok, I got a time stamp in the databse, all I want to work out is ...

If the time stamp in the databse is More than 10 minutes old,

do not display the data.

Data comes in to the database every 60 seconds and records a new time stamp, so if no data has been received for 10 minutes, I can be sure they have logged out.

Example:

User logs out of the system, the last recorded time stamp for them is 1160916530

If the time now is more than 10 minutes from that time stamp, they must have logged out, therefore do not display them!

I know this should be easy, but I just cant get my head around it!

Can anyone help!

What DBMS (MySQL, etc.)?

Is it a DATETIME field, a TIMESTAMP field, or an INTEGER field into which you're saving the UNIX timestamp from a PHP time() function?

Thanks for the response. I'm using MySql

The time is recorded in the database by the following..

$time = time();

Which gives it this long number [ I'm assuming its the number of seconds since 1970 or something like that ]

$time=$row['time'];
$timenow=time();
$time_add_ten_minutes=$time+600;// 600 seconds is ten minutes

If ($time_add_ten_minues > $timenow){
Do not display the data;
}

But something is going wrong! 😕

$timenow2 = $timenow-600;
