[RESOLVED] Sending mail for php, how ?

I made this little program for tes sending mail:

$Recipient="betal@itj.no";
$Subject="Hello";
$Content="This is the main text.";
$Xtra="From: [email]bjornar@itj.no[/email]";
mail(@Recipient,$Subject,$Content,$Xtra);

echo "Your mail is sent !!!!"

It does not send any mail to the recipient betal@itj.no

My web hotel provider is not helpful in any way.
Is there something I miss ?

If I had to guess I would say the problem lies in @Recipient not being $Recipient

No, my php Bible says $Recipient, not with @.

@ mail($Recipient,$Subject,$Content,$Xtra);

Would be the proper code.

@ denotes silent mode, meaning the function will not return any message on failure.

It could be several things...

Your ISP doesn't allow emails from the server ( I have this problem with my own ISP ). Or your host hasn't setup sendmail.

I'm sure he knows what it means, he was simply stating that your code in the initial post:

mail(@Recipient,$Subject,$Content,$Xtra);

probably wasn't going to work, because "@Recipient" is not a valid variable.

You can check sendmail settings on your server by calling phpinfo
