Daisy wrote:Hi,
I am a very new newbie to PHP. I have much experience with html but none with php.
I have a question regarding the naming convention of the index page. I have seen several php sites on the internet and the start page name varies:
index.php
home.php
Other sites have no index or home just the http://www.mysite.com/
What are the benefits (if any) of the three different naming conventions?
Is one better than another?
THANKS!
(It will be the first of many).
If you reffer to a website like so or to a dirctory with a brower with no filename (such as index or home.php, .htm, .html, ect) your browser automatically looks for a file named index, home, or main, ect.
As far as using home or index, I always use index because it's personal preference and I think it's the safer choice because it will be more widely recognized as a start page, index page.
