I set ft_min_word_len=3 , but I have some 2 letter words that I want to include in the search. How can I accomplish this?

I have no idea what ft_min_word_len is -- it is not a php.ini directive nor a pre-defined constant, so you'll need to give us more info as to the context in which you are using it.
