[RESOLVED] problem with duplicates

I am trying to get distinct results from a table, so if I have:

| Animal | Size |

---

Dog Small
Dog Small
Bear Large

I'd like to get, using SELECT i think, "SELECT Animal FROM table_animals ..."

but then only return:
| Dog |
| Bear |

(Not Dog dog bear like it currently does)

Any help much appreciated!

You actually have the answer in the question. "SELECT DISTINCT(Animal) FROM table_animals ..."
