[RESOLVED] How can I get a list of images in a directory?

I'd like to have a form, and in it a pull-down menu which is populated by PHP. There's a bunch of JPG files in a certain directory that I'd like to populate the pull-down with. I just want it to display the filename. Even with the .jpg would be fine, so that when someone makes a selection, it passes the whole filename to the form.

Any idea how to do this? Thanks!

You could wrap the whole thing into an if (is_dir()) to ensure the directory does exist prior to looping through its contents.

I got Azala's code to work, however, a lot of the files end in .jpg.LCK

Any ideas as to why a lot of the files are ending like this?

.lck is short for lock.

If you use any coding software that works directly with the server, it may create .lck files to prevent other developers from accessing the same file while you are working with it.

This is probably a feature you can turn off in your project settings.

Ok, I got the .lck figured out, here's my next dilema: It is a totally unsorted list, which makes finding what I need very difficult in a list of 100+ files. How can I sort the list alphabetically?

Instead of populating option tags in the for loop you could populate an array.

Now you can sort the array as you wish using various array sorting functions. After you've done that loop through the array and spit out the option tags.

You could also use [man]glob[/man] to get a sorted list....
