Search Button on Web Page

I need to create code that allows a user to do a search of their accounts, by account number and then return the account information (name, address, etc.) for them to view. To best see what I"m trying to do, I created an Access web page that, unfortunately, won't work period on our UNIX server, hence trying to learn PHP to work with mySQL. You are probably going to need to use SESSIONS for this. Best place to start is to search these forums for login or user authentication. You will find all the code you need to get authentication up and running and thus allow users to view and edit their data.

I'm sorry..I guess my question wasn't that clear. How do I use PHP codes to extract information from a mySQL database and put it in a predetermined space on the page?
