[RESOLVED] Display Certain Records from Database

I have a database with records that change every so often. Some products need to be taken out of the database so they will not be displayed and then later, they need to be put back in. I am looking for a way to not have to delete the product everytime and have to be reentered, maybe have a checkbox that is linked to the product and check and uncheck the box for the item to be displayed or not.

Is there a way, or what is the best way to display a set of records from my database?

Basically I can think of two ways to solve your problem:

1. Add a column "activated". If the value is 1 then the product is activated and it should show up in the search, if it is 0 then it should not show up. To do it this way you need to change every query and add "WHERE activated = 1".

2. Create a new database table. Then when you want to delete a product place it in the new table and remove it from the old table. When you want it back just do it the other way around.

There are plus and minus with both these ways. The first way is probably the best way, but if you already have coded everything you have lots of code to go through. The second alternative will work, but not if you have relations with the products you remove. I can't recommend how to solve the problems with these ways, it is up to you to decide.
