[RESOLVED] Firefox [1.5]

Anybody know where i can download this? I am having major stability issues with 2.0! 🙁 its annoying me enough to use internet explorer in the meantime.

Found no trouble with FF2 myself; obviously many of the extensions haven't been upgraded, but the important ones I use have been.

Clearly you didn't keep the 1.5 installer (something I do too much of🙂); no matter, two clicks from the Firefox home page is http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/

If you're having stability issues with 2.0 then there is probably a cause not related to firefox itself.

Try disabling all plugins and extensions. If that fails, try deleting your profile (you might want to save bookmarks first).

If it still crashes reproducibly with no extensions or plugins and a clean profile, you may have a hardware fault, driver fault or problem in the OS - but in the absence of any of these, consider submitting a bug report.

I didnt have any plugins installed and it was a fresh install or windows xp pro (with sp2)

but thanks for the link weedpacket... i couldnt find it . silly me

Are you sure you have no plugins installed? Have you checked about:plugins ?

Have you tried deleteing your profile or a reinstall?

Is there anything in the release notes which is relevant, e.g. incompatible "Personal firewall" software?

i'm posative. I installed windows XP and first thing i installed was FF2.0 (apart from mobo and graphics card drivers) then i started using it and it crashes probably every hour. i'm back on firefox 1.5 in the mean time. so i am happy 🙂

Does "install" include applying any outstanding OS updates/hotfixes?

Sounds like something that should be replicable from a bug-reporting point of view: I wonder how many people would have tried installing FF2 on a clean XP install so far? Or, for that matter, no a clean Vista install?

Just to play dangerously...
I simply installed FF2 over the top of FF1.5. Wanna see if upgrading works now?

True, I've considered going linux and dual booting. However, the fact that i cant even get the Ubuntu LiveCD to work on my computer put me right off.

I gave the ol' Firefox 2 another shot and now its working even less.

I installed over 1.5 and i got the error below

so.. I uninstalled FF2, deleted the folder etc.

Now when i try and load FF2 I get : "The procedure entry point JS_DHashTableOperate count not be located in the dynamic link library js3250.dll"

Sticking with FF1.5 still. Had to come back to this thread for the download link... you would think i would have learnt to store the installer by now!

and in answer to your question a month ago weedpacket... yes, it was after all windows updates (i had made a streamlined version just before i reinstalled windows and cleaned out the cobwebs)
