Hi,

I've been using the forum for about 8 months now (on and off - I went travelling for 3 months).

Anyway just thought it was about time i said hello! It's my favourite PHP community so far.

I'm a student in Edinburgh Scotland, I've been learning PHP for a few years now, mostly self taught. I find university doesn't teach my anything that seemed to be useful. Although, i guess some of it must be... I'm in 4th year of a Software Technology course.

I'm using my own website for playing around with php... tbh, i winder if I'll ever finish my website. I have a horrible habit of starting something and then thinking of a new way to do it and then starting again. I guess its because I'm programming my site for fun and not for a set of goals.

I just started freelance PHP work btw.

No wonder you like us! I've not time atm to search, but there was a rather lengthy discussion of how prone several of us are to never quite finish anything.

A geek trait, methinks ... but I could be remembering incorrectly.

I know exactly how you feel on the "stuff to finish" front. If I had a nickel for everything I didn't have completed! Well, I wouldn't have a lot of money, but still more than anyone should have for something like that! 😃

lol, rgermain... its unfortunate we get paid to complete stuff and not the other way around.

Well, tell you what, we'll all start projects and then pass them on to you when we get bored (or whatever) 🙂

I travelled to Florida to work in Universal Studios Orlando for 3 months. It was cool.

I guess there are a few Americans on this form, so it wont be that interesting to them! However, its quite a way to go for somebody from Scotland!

The work was really great fun although, very brain dead and boring after a while. I loved it and 3 months was just right. I didn't use a computer apart from to check emails maybe once a week for the whole time. a good break for any computing student.
