defining a variable after echoing it

how do i define a variable after echoing it..
for example

echo $something;

$something = "blahblah"
?>

What is it you are really trying to do?

Can you establish a "default" value prior to using it in the first place?

im trying to get the <title> tags all set correctly
for example, i have two templates one for top and one for the bottom with the contect in the middle.

the title tag: <title><?php echo $pagetitle ?></title> } header template

then here comes the content. i will then define the $pagetitle here which is after the echo... whici is impossible } content

then the footer } footer template

Ironically, this issue has come up before in almost the exact same context...

The result/decision/advice:

*Change the way you are doing things...

In other words, figure out your content (or at least the title) prior to calling for it in your script/template: You have to assign their value prior to using them... No ifs ands or buts.
