What would it take to build a site like one of these?

Curious to know what it would take to make a site that mimics one of the sites below - functionally. Assume a database already exists and would only need to be modified, filtered, etc.

Yeah a really broad question but I am thinking about how many man hours etc and perhaps a short breakdown of critical components of the project.

Also, how in the world could I find the developer(s) of these and other similar sites? Are there any off the shelf products that already exist relating to the ticket industry?

How long is a piece of string? :-)
- depends if you're hosting the server or someone does it for you
- database administration & development
- server scripting PHP/other
- javascript if needed
- graphic design, CSS and HTML templating

Oh - and you'd better be pretty hot on your security as well if you're taking details of customers, money (credit cards etc), if you store personal data you'll probably need data protection compliance for whatever country you a) trade in and b) host the service in, so it's not just a matter of coding - otherwise you could pretty quickly find yourself up in court for non-compliance of a host of legal requirements. 😉

Thanks for the reply. I/we already have a server all to ourselves, but another server(s) would be dedicated to this project.

I can do a lot of the work (PHP, MySQL, XML, etc) but I'm not that great of a programmer, especially obkect oriented, though not sure if the latter is that important.

Any suggestions to find people who can do a project like that? I see a list of freelancers on this site. Any other resources for not only individuals but companies as well?

can't give you any recommendations personally, but as a delivery manager for software projects beware loose requirements, developers who push their preferences and get a good contract in place if you're not going to do it all. companies --- same as before but prob more than you'll want to pay so get your business plan and commercials straight first
