Passing select option from drop down list to database

In my separate html form page I have all of the 'textfield' entries working via a php page which inserts all of the form fields into my database succesfully except for my 'countries' drop down' list.

The resultant table entry in the countries column comes up as 'array' instead of the country chosen.
I think it may be to do with a need for 'auto-increment' coding placed somewhere in relation to the options.

It is to do with your naming of the select element and the way that you extract the data from the post var.

Let me say, I'm not in love with dubya by any means and I won't be sorry to see him go in 2008. Let's just say, the conspiracy theories and ignorant hate out there beyond the space between "sea to shinning sea" are just a little unbalanced. Like the article comparing him to Hitler....come on!

Now tell me really, as a citizen of the UK, how is your life so bad because a certain president "across the pond" resides in the White House. If you're gonna tell me he flew planes into the world trade center, or he set off bombs in the tubes, I seriously doubt your common sense. Which is precisely the reason I think politics should stay out of forums like these. Before you know it, you may have Roger Ramjet insinuating that I think everyone in the Arabian Peninsula are terrorists (I just believe that the ones who are...umm...are...just them.)

As for the post at hand (if Paulmanley is still following this thread)...

Roger Ramjet is right. You may have named the select box with countries in it something like "countries[]". In case you don't know, when PHP encounters a POST variable with [] on the end, that tells PHP that the values for that POST variable are to be converted to an array. If it is a multiselect (which I couldn't understand with the United States always acting unilateral and all) and you are supposed to be able to send through multiple countries then you'll need to implode your array into values that can be inserted into your database.
