put code in text box?

ok i have a CMS ive written what i want to do is give admin the ability to upload a file, which ive done but i also want to be able to provide a drop down box that list all files uploaded and when one is selected it automaticaly puts the correct html code into a text box to that file.

best way to describe it is like the smilies on this forum you click on the smilie and it automaticaly inserts the code into the text box?

assuming you have stored the indicated file (or retrieved it and stored it), i would simply manipulate the document object with a javascript function.

Or use AJAX to interact as you need
