Absolute Paths

Hello, I've installed XAMPP on my Mac and would like to structure my paths relative to the root. In htdocs, which XAMPP defines as the root, I have a folder (mysite) and an image file in that (img). Thus, to link to images, I write mysite/img/image.jpg. However, I would like to structure links like so: /img/image.jpg. I'm using Dreamweaver 8 and have tried messing around with the local settings, but can't get it to work. Can someone please tell me how to accomplish this?

If you want to reference the file regardless of where the calling script is in the directory tree:

$file = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . '/img/image.jpg';

Thanks for the replies - always grateful for the help. Anyway, yes, I do want to reference the file from anywhere in the directory. The server I use at work understands that the backslash at the beginning of /img/image.jpg means to start at the root and I can use the same path from anywhere in the directory. In addition, I can do this without adding script to the code. We have a Windows server at work - is this a Windows feature? Can I accompish this on a Linux server without using a script?
