ecommerce, a second opinion

well, I want to offer ecommerce sollutions to customers that I build websites for. I do know that there are a lot of solutions out there currently that I could use, some free and some not.

I guess the purpose of those post is a question of what some of your opinions are on this topic. I have had people tell me to build my own (which is a lot of work) and also to use someone elses that is already put together. The type of person I am I believe that it is smarter not reinventing the wheel and if there is a ecommerce package already out there that works for me then I should just go with that.

I was looking at OSCommerce but I don't really like that one. It seems a little clunky and the skinning is not the greatest. Also I was wondering if there was a package out there that also integrated with accounting program that would sync with website sales and such that runs on a local server or something of that sort.

I would have to say that this is a matter of preference. I personally like to make my own stuff, time/cost willing. Only for the fact you get exactly what you want and know what you are working with. But there is some good applications out there that are useful and can do the job just as good. It all depends on what you need and what is available. Just my opinion.
