Full Path with numbers not showing?

I know that subject sounds strange, but here is the problem.

define("SITE_ROOT", dirname(dirname(__FILE__)));
echo SITE_ROOT . "\pnp-new\images\11.jpg";

prints our the following:

c:\Program Files\Apache2\htdocs\pnp-new\images\ .jpg

If I change the 11 to letters, it prints accurately. Just curious as to why this happens.

Not really sure, but try using single quotes instead of double quotes:

echo SITE_ROOT . '\pnp-new\images\11.jpg';

Although it should be noted that unless you're using windows, you should be using forward slashes "/" and not backslashes "\". And even if you're in windows, windows will recognize both and act accordingly. So that may be the next option: switch the direction of the slashes.

Changing the slashes worked, but now the output is:

C:\Program Files\Apache2\htdocs/pnp-new/images/11.jpg

Because of the path. No need to fret though, it should still work.

Windows uses "\" to define folders, and linux uses "/". Since Windows can recognize both, it's safer to use "/". If you really wanted to change it, I guess you could try:

echo SITE_ROOT . "\\pnp-news\\images\\11.jpg";

Essentially you're escaping each "\"....crude but it should work.

Nothing crude about it at all - the backslash is a special character. "\n" means a line break. "\x61" is an "a". So, PHP thinks your \11 is some special character, no doubt (though it isn't - hence the space).
