hi im trying to link my database with a site which i have made for my uni assignment it is based on fantasy football can any one help me with the code so that i can link the database to the website and get it working

well the site which i have made is made in dreamweaver and the database which i have created has a loggin and holds info on the palyers and the teams

Dreamweaver supports many programming languages - which one are you using?

What kind of database is it? Access? MySQL?

This is exactly the type of post that wastes people's time.

The statement "I'm trying to link a database to the website" is almost laughably vague.

If it were just as simple as "linking a database to a website," do you think there would be an entire profession devoted to this task?

I am suggesting that, at the moment, you are in over your head. If you really want to create an effective dynamic site, you should first actually study some PHP and SQL (unless someone here is willing to walk you through all the steps it would take to design and build the dynamic subsystem you're talking about).

Someone did it for me when I was a beginner, so I'll do it for you. The following code is assuming you're using PHP and mysql.

Connect to the database:
$dbh=mysql_connect ("server name","db user name","db password") or die ('System is down. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again soon. ' . mysql_error());
mysql_select_db ("db name");

//retrieve and output data from the database

$result=mysql_query("SELECT field1,field2 FROM table");
while($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) {
extract($row);
echo $field1."<BR>".$field2."<BR>";
}
