how to tell php to use myql???

Hi all -- we inherited a server that has php 4 installed but no mysql. We have installed mysql but how do you get php to recognize it?

Seems like something should be easy but am confused about the recompile how to or ... ?? i'm so not a server admin!

please help!!! 🙁

i'm by no means an expert on the configuration of this but the first thind i notice is at the very top in the 'Configure Command' is has this...

'./configure' '--with-ibm-db2' '--with-config-file-path=/QOpenSys/php/etc' '--prefix=/QOpenSys/php/' '--enable-force-cgi-redirect' '--without-mysql' '--enable-inline-optimization' '--disable-debug' '--with-zlib' '--build=powerpc-ibm-aix4.3.3.0' '--host=powerpc-ibm-aix4.3.3.0'

And in that quote you will notice '--without-mysql' - i guess this instruction needs removed.

yes - that's the problem. who ever installed php originally turned mysql off.

I tried looking and now I'm going to give up... I cant find how or where you change that. lol. Hopefulyl somebody else here can help you out.
