[RESOLVED] identifying non-english chars in a string

Is there a simple way to check for non-english characters in a text string?

(i.e. ÀÁÂÃÅàáâãåÒÓÔÕØòóôõøÈÉÊËèéêëÇçÌÍÎÏìíîïÙÚÛùúûÿÑñ etc. )

Maybe a string function that checks for non-UTF8(?) chars?

Well this can help :

$string = 'Le chatté botté se promenant dans le pré avec ses amies bien généreuses qui avaient tant envie de la chatouiller... il se surprit à apercevoir sa mère qui se faisait étrangler par un vilain loup ! « Mais que fais-tu à ma grand-mère sale enfoirré ? » dit-il...';
$arrMatches = array();
preg_match_all('/([À-ÿ]+)/i', $string, $arrMatches);
echo '<pre>';
print_r($arrMatches);

I started at À (chr 192) and stopped at ÿ (chr 255)...

Use chr(integer) to see the characters and their associated numbers...

Yes, thanks...I discovered I can even use:

preg_match_all('/\W/', $string, $matches);

(not exact, but close enough for my needs)
