[RESOLVED] Using session variables with AJAX

I'm having trouble accessing my session variables in a PHP script that I call using AJAX. I keep getting a warning saying that _SESSION variable is undefined. This has got me confused since I've found plenty of evidence that other people are using session variables without any problems. Does anybody have a clue what I'm doing wrong? Or what might be wrong with my setup even?

Thanks. That's exactly the problem. I forgot because all of my normal pages go through a central index page which has the session_start () in it.
