[RESOLVED] mydomain.om/username redirect.

hey there,

Im just curious for now, but I may try it later.

I'm looking for a tutorial on how to have a website read the username in the url i.e.

mydomain.com/username

and then redirect the user to the page of the username in the url.

I mean, how does the site know not to try and open a directory called username/ ?

With the Apache server, read up on .htaccess files and mod_rewrite. Most servers have this turned on. What this does is with mod_rewrite rules you can say that if someone puts in the url:
mydomain.com/username
instead of looking for a directory "username", it will redirect to something like:
mydomain.com/members.php?u=username
