Ok i just have to ask if this is a faq quiestion .

the thing is i have built a standard form like <form><input></form> (ok alittle more)
but when i click on submit the browser opens a window telling me the option to either open save or cansel the "form action file."

this is very confusing for me since it worked just hours ago 😕

someone who has heard of this before?

what i might add is that the file should autiomaticly open in the browser as any php file , but when i try to click on the option "open" that i get then it opens the php file as a textfile.??

Ok it seemes as if i am unable to open any php file in my browser anymore 😕 all i get wordpad opened with the php file in text.

It seemes my computer has gone on strike and i can no longer open php files in my browser, it only openes it in wordpad. What has happened?

Err, an error?

You'll need to give more details. Is your computer running a web server? If so, does it have logs, and what do the logs say?

You changed the php file association to no longer open with a browser, it's trying to open the php with wordpad now. Hopefully someone can tell you how to fix it back, as the only thing I can think about is reinstalling the browser, or fidling with the file associations for it.

i get the question if i want to open save or cancel the file. also it is classified as an unknown filetype.

im using the wampserver, which logs should i look into?

Either wipe out the WAMP server and do a re-install after saving your htdocs folder where all your web stuff is or get XAMPP available HERE for download after you have removed the above WAMP and then cut and paste the htdocs into the XAMPP htdocs folder.

Are you running this locally on a PC? If so, do you have a web server installed? If so, is it running? If so, did you put the files in question in or beneath the web root directory (usually something like "htdocs/" or "public_html/")? If so, did you reference the file from the browser's address bar via a URL (e.g.: http://localhost/test.php) as opposed to just double-clicking on the file icon or opening it with the File->Open File menu option?

Sorry but that didnt help I uninstalled wampserver and then reinstalled it. The same problem still occurs ? Anyone who has had this problem before ?

The WAMP webserver stores all its web content in the htdocs folder. This is the root of your localhost and can be accessed either with http://localhost/ or http://127.0.0.1/ and the name of the file...so if you had a simple file like phpinfo() in this htdocs folder and you named it phpinfo.php then you would access it with your browser using http://localhost/phpinfo.php or http://127.0.0.1/phpinfo.php So create a phpinfo.php by copy and pasting the below single line file into your htdocs folder and name it phpinfo.php:

phpinfo();
?>

Next make sure that your webserver is running and then open your browser and manually enter the URL of http://localhost/phpinfo.php in the address bar and you should see a bunch of tables related to your PHP installation, if you do not you have a bad install and will need to re-install the WAMP server.
