select by month

Hi all!
If I only had the year and month in the below format how can I search for records in a table for that year and month?

$YEAR= "2007";
$MONTH= "01";

What format do you use ? Unix timestamp or something like YYYY-MM-DD ?

How is the data stored in the date field? If it's YYYY-MM-DD then something like this should work:

$query = "SELECT `column1`, `column2` FROM `myTable` WHERE `date_field` LIKE '$YEAR-$MONTH%";

You do it by using one of the date time functions

It's in a date field formated like "yyyy-mm-dd"

Wow... did all three of us post at the same (relative) time? Hehe... never seen a 3-way tie before.

Anyway, you've got two suggestions to go from - my example query (using LIKE) or Roger's method of using the date functions. Give one (or both and compare speed results, if you're wanting to have optimized queries 😉) a go and let us know if it worked/didn't work.
