[RESOLVED] Stand alone script?

Is it possible to have a script run on a client pc that does not have PHP or web server installed? The rationale here is that I am trying to script a page that will manipulate images for sizing and then ftp them to my host, and I want to keep the look and feel of the whole application. I have worked with PHP and Javascript so don’t have the skills to create this in any other languages. I have also searched to see if Javascipt would do this but no luck so far. Any suggestions very welcomed.

JavaScript is a client side technology and will run on a PC regardless if there is a webserver whereas PHP is a server side technology and must run on a server so PHP wont but Javascript will.

I understand that, just wondered if it was a possibilty. What I meant was I have looked for something with Javascripting that will at least resize the images and output to a new folder but I don't think this is pssible?

Manipulating local files with JavaScript? I didn't looked thoroughly in Google for that topic but I think it shouldn't be possible, as it would be a biiiiiig security threat. If you could use it for resizing images, you could also use it to get access to data on client's computer. No, I don't think that's possible (and I'm glad it isn't 🙂 ).
I think that can be done with some ActiveX Control in IE, but then users have to trust your control and let it be installed first before using it.

No client-side scripting language such as Javascript is going to let you touch local files (heck, you can't even mess with INPUT type="file" elements in a form), so uploading the file to PHP, manipulating it on the server, and using PHP's FTP commands might be your only easy option.

JAVA is the only way to manipulate stuff on the client.

You could of course install PHP on the target PC and then write and install your scripts in PHP.

You can use php as a standard scripting tool without a webserver.
