How can save Excel file content & php?

I have an excel file related to an application ( real time data )

my prblem is :

how can i save the content of the excel file ( myfile.xls) from php?

The pear http://pear.php.net/package/Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer Excel Writer package may help, although I have never used it so cannot say how well it works or not.
