[RESOLVED] Another Image Swap Question

Hello,

I know this is a popular topic, If my question has already been answered here please link me to it, I have found some help on here, but I am afraid I'm too new at this to help myself...

I am trying to make a dynamic menu.
Dynamic in the sense that I update one file and the menu changes across all pages.

Them menu is a set of images resembling tabs and I have javascript handling the image swaps.

I need the "home" tab to not be a link and show a different image when youre at the home page, services while on the services page etc etc... allowing the other links to rollover and still have link functionaliity.

I have the menu included on my pages with

<?php require ('menu.php'); ?>

so when I edit menu.php what should I do, and where should I put the codes?
I think I need to run an if statement, but I'm not sure where to put it and I don't know if I need an array or not.

I apologize for being so dense, but again I'm a huge newb and If I can get a clear answer I'm sure this will benefit other people on my level of DreamWeaver page creation.

On the Home page, just before the require statement, add this line:
$page = "home";

On the services page, just before the require statement, add this:
$page = "services";

Do that for all pages on your site.

Then open menu.php and find the HTML code that displays the graphics for the HOME link. Wrap them with an IF statement like this:

<?php if ($page=="home") { ?>
HTML for non-linking Home graphic goes here
<?php } else { ?>
HTML for linking Home graphic goes here
<? } ?>

Then do the same for the services page and all other pages for your site.

By the way, I'm not sure exactly what the differences are between require and include. I always use include which works for me. You may wish to investigate that if you are having trouble.

I'm not sure of require/include differences either. I changed it to include... I don't think it matters in this case.

This worked great on my server.

Now I am uploading to the official server and I get unexpected $end msgs...
I read the thread about that and have checked my curly brackets but they seem to have matching opening and closing...

Heh. As you can see from my earlier post, I try to always use <?php but as you found out, I forgot it on the third line. Using <? is a bad habit that I'm still trying to break. 🙂 Glad it worked for you.
