Email Attachment

Hi all,

How do I email an attachment from a HTML form?

May I recommend the following:

1. Use a library to create the MIME message - there is one in PEAR which seems to work. Don't manually try to write a MIME message, you'll probably get it wrong.
2. Check the return value from mail(). Don't use the @ operator to call a function, ever. Write a custom error handler which shouts and screams blue murder if even an E_NOTICE happens.

instead of

$fileatt      = $_FILES['fileatt']['tmp_name'];
$fileatt_type = $_FILES['fileatt']['type'];
$fileatt_name = $_FILES['fileatt']['name'];

then use this

if (file_exists($tmp_name)){
      // check to make sure that it is an uploaded file and not a system file
      if(is_uploaded_file($tmp_name)){
         // open the file for a binary read
         $file = fopen($tmp_name,'rb');
         // read the file content into a variable
         $data = fread($file,filesize($tmp_name));

Of course you would also call your file filename in your form like this:
