retrieving info from db for dropdown

hello there,

i have a problem with my script. i would like to retrieve information from db to be displayed in my dropdown but it's not functioning. whenever i run this page, i can only see one option and that is "Select Instituition". i can't see the instituition names that i have in my db. could anyone tell me what's wrong with my code? thank you so much.

What's the sprintf around the query for???

Apart from spelling institution wrong I can't see anything wrong.

I noticed that you use Inst_Id and InstName. Is there a _ missing in the second one.

Just a thought.

You could also try

$result = @mysql_query($query) or die ('Error: '.mysql_error());

to see if there's a problem with the query which I doubt in this case.

hey, thanks for your reply.

yeah i removed the sprintf, and the names are correct. but later i found out that was not the problem. actually i should not have put if statement before executing the query because it will not fire any data.

but still, thanks for the sprintf, now i know what is the use of it 🙂
