[RESOLVED] Upgrade php 5.1.4 to latest stable 5.2

i installed php as such on ubuntu:

apt-get install autoconf automake1.4 autotools-dev libapache2-mod-php5 php5 php5-common php5-curl php5-dev php5-gd php-pear php5-ldap php5-mhash php5-mysql php5-mysqli php5-snmp php5-sqlite php5-xmlrpc php5-xsl php5-imap php5-mcrypt php5-pspell php-getid3 php-services-weather php-image-canvas php-image-graph

how can i upgrade

i tried apt-get upgrade php5 and it doesnt upgrade anything

You can only upgrade to a version for which an Ubuntu package exists.

Packages don't necessarily exist for the latest version, and they have their reasons for keeping versions back (e.g. time by package maintainers).

If you want a later version, remove the Ubuntu packages and build PHP from source.

i found a .deb package for the latest and got it installed with some trickery 🙂
