Splitting a string?

Hi guys,

How can i do the following:

1. i would like to get the name of a file, from only searching the for the "http://www.sitename.com"and ending in the ".jpg" -- to get the name of the image.

http://www.sitename.com/img.jpg

("http://www.sitename.com", ".jpg") = "img"

Is there anything that can do this???

This is going to be used in a page scrape. so i do not know what the file name is, just that the file is always in after the site address, and before the .jpg

$url = 'http://www.sitename.com/img.jpg';
$fname = basename($url);
echo $fname;

That will output img.jpg. From that its easy to further process that filename to your likings.

You could use preg_match_all:
